86 Nursing Home Sexual Abuse Cases since 2007

Authorities have investigated 86 nursing home sexual abuse against elderly or disabled patients. An investigation by the Chicago Tribune found that only one of these cases has resulted in arrest.

In a quarter of Chicago’s 119 nursing homes, sexual assault or rape was reported. A majority of the 86 cases it was residents attacking other residents. State law requires that sexual violence be reported by nursing homes immediately. In at least nine sexual attacks, police were not notified, according to police records.

Illinois Wreck Injures Two

In Apple River, two were injured in a single car accident on Jan. 14.

A married couple, both in there seventies, were driving around a curve when the woman lost control of the car on the snow-covered road. The car vehicle went off of the roadway and turned over. The couple were both taken to hospital and were treated. The investigation on the accident is still underway.

Snowfall Leads to Multiple Accidents in Illinois

The inclement weather caused a few wrecks, but one of the serious accidents included a semi- tractor trailer falling on another car.

A 62-year-old driver of a semi-trailer truck was driving on Interstate 74 when he saw another semi-truck lose control on the icy road. He then moved his truck over to the side of the road, where there was a disabled vehicle. The 62-year-old driver of the semi-truck hit the Ford and landed on top of it. The semi then dragged the Ford 200 feet before coming to a stop. The passengers in the Ford were taken to the hospital and later released.

Illinois Man Injured When Vehicle Crashes Into Home

A 23 year old man in Fosterburg, Illinois, was injured when a vehicle crashed into his home, pinning him to his couch. Sources claim that the 52-year old driver of the vehicle lost control and struck a tree, a church sign, and an embankment, which sent the car flying into the home.

The injured man was airlifted to a St. Louis hospital with unspecified injuries and authorities are investigating the cause of the crash. Reports have indicated that icy conditions may have played a factor in the accident and some believe the driver may suffer from epilepsy.
