Police of the District 8 Germantown Hills office of Secor have reported that a 16-year-old Eureka High School student was killed in a traffic accident Tuesday morning.

The fatal accident occurred around 8:15 a.m. when the teenager was driving north on Woodford County Road 2000 east and turned in front of a semitrailer truck eastbound on U.S. 24. The truck driver was not injured, and neither vehicle was carrying any passengers.

The high school shut down all practices and school events for the evening, and the school district provided counselors and ministers for any students who wished to talk about the accident.
