Head-on semi collision claims the lives of two victims

Early Tuesday, an IFCO Systems tractor trailer truck crossed the median and collided with a FedEx semi truck that was traveling to Champaign, IL. The trucks burst into flames, killing both drivers on I-24 North. The drivers have been identified as 29-year-old John Greer of Nashville and 52-year-old Michael Donley of Illinois. This accident happened just after 5 a.m. between the Interstate 65 and Briley Parkway split.

A third car was involved in the accident, as a black BMW rear ended the FedEx semi prior to it catching fire. The driver, David Hickox, fortunately only suffered minor injuries.

Emergency responders in Nashville took over two hours to extinguish the flames caused by the collision. Westbound lanes of I-24 remained closed while crews cleared the scene and continued their investigation. Eastbound lanes also immediately closed following the truck accident, however these lanes reopened well before the rest of the highway reopened.

The thoughts of everyone at Spiros Law, P.C., are with both drivers’ families during this unexpected and devastating time.
