A 39-year-old woman was injured as a result of car and truck crash that occurred on U.S. 45 just outside of Pesotum on Tuesday.
According to state police, the incident occurred just before 11 a.m. when a woman was traveling northbound on the highway and she rear-ended a tractor that was traveling in the same direction.
The impact caused the tractor’s driver to be thrown from the vehicle. The tractor came to a rest on the shoulder of the road and the woman’s vehicle stopped in the middle of the road. Both the woman and tractor driver were transported to the hospital to be treated, but the extent of their injuries is not yet known.

A car accident in Rantoul on Saturday afternoon caused five people to be transported to the hospital.
According to police officials, the accident occurred when two cars collided in Urbana while traveling on U.S. 45. An 18-year-old was traveling westbound on Champaign County Road 3200 when he did not yield at an intersection and struck a truck.
Five people that were involved in the accident were all transported to Provena Covenant Medical Center where they were treated and released. State police announced that the teen was ticketed for failing to stop at a yield sign.

A 5-year-old girl was injured after a three-car accident occurred Monday morning.
According to Champaign police, the accident occurred at the intersection at University Avenue and Fourth Street just before 9 a.m. The accident began when a 20-year-old driver was traveling in her Ford Explorer when her car collided with another SUV.
The 30-year-old driver of the other vehicle was not injured, but two children his vehicle were transported to Carle Foundation Hospital to be treated. The 20-year-old driver of the car along with a 5-year-old passenger in the car were already released from the hospital, but a 5-year-old passenger is still in the hospital currently in critical condition. The second vehicle that was struck, flipped and rolled over striking another car, but no one inside was injured.

A man from Champaign was killed after a rollover car accident occurred on Interstate 57.
According to local police, the 52-year-old victim was the passenger in a car that somehow lost control near Chebanse. The man was killed and the 37-year-old driver of this vehicle was also seriously injured.
While police were investigating this accident, a squad car rear ended another car. The driver of the car struck, the fire protection district chief, was injured as well as the squad car driver.

One woman was sent to the hospital after a car accident occurred at a Champaign intersection after the car that she was riding in was struck.
According to police, the accident occurred at 12:30 p.m. when an 18-year-old man was traveling at the intersection of Mattis and Kirbey Lane and failed to see a vehicle traveling northbound. He attempted to make a turn onto an eastbound street and they two cars collided.
The vehicle struck was driven by a 27-year-old woman and the 18-year-old passenger in her vehicle was transported to Provena Covenant Medical Center in Urbana in order to be treated for injuries sustained. The 18-year-old man was ticketed for failure to yield as a result of the crash.

Two people were injured after a two-vehicle accident occurred in Champaign on Monday afternoon.
According to Champaign police officials, the accident occurred when a car driven by a 55-year-old woman collided with an SUV driven by a 52-year-old woman. Police stated that the 55-year-old woman failed to yield at a stop sign when she reached the Mattis Avenue and Williams Street intersection.
The two vehicles came to a rest in driveways on opposite sides of the street. The two drivers were taken to the hospital in order to be treated and they were both listed in good condition.
Three lanes of traffic were shutdown after the accident so emergency crews could clear the scene. The 55-year-old woman was cited for failure to yield at an intersection.

A woman was injured when the tractor that she was driving was struck from behind.
The 30-year-old woman was traveling on U.S. 45 on her tractor when she was struck from the rear by a car. The collision caused the woman to be thrown from the tractor.
The driver of the other car was not injured in the collision, but he was ticketed for failure to reduce speed in order to avoid an accident. The woman was transported to Carle Foundation Hospital to be treated for her serious injuries. She was also cited for not having a slow-moving vehicle sticker on her tractor.

One man was sent to the hospital after a three-vehicle accident in Urbana. The accident occurred outside of Urbana Middle School and involved a car, a school bus carrying children, and a minivan.
According to the police, the accident occurred when a 54-year-old man was driving down Vine Street and he tried to pass a car driven by a 41-year-old man. The bus hit the car and pushed it forward. The bus then went around the car and struck another van multiple times.
There were eight children on the bus and the bus driver had no explanation for the accident. He was charged with failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident. No children were injured in the accident, but the second driver was transported to the hospital where he was treated and released.

Two people were killed and three more were injured in a car accident on I-74 over the weekend.
According to reports on the accident, a 63-year-old man and a 62-year-old woman were traveling east on I-74 when their vehicle entered the median of the roadway. The car traveled several hundred feet on the median before falling into an embankment.
The 62-year-old woman and 63-year-old man, who were man and wife, were pronounced dead at the scene. Three other passengers were taken to the hospital and one was listed in critical condition. The accident is being investigated by police at this time.

Police have said that alcohol may be a factor in the pedestrian accident that killed 20-year-old woman from St. Ambrose on Sunday morning.
Authorities are waiting for toxicology reports to determine whether both pedestrian and driver had consumed alcohol before the accident. A 36-year-old man hit the woman as she crossed at the intersection of Locust and Gaines.
All that knew that woman described her a vibrant and fun. The crash remains under investigation at this time.
