A 39-year-old woman was injured as a result of car and truck crash that occurred on U.S. 45 just outside of Pesotum on Tuesday.
According to state police, the incident occurred just before 11 a.m. when a woman was traveling northbound on the highway and she rear-ended a tractor that was traveling in the same direction.
The impact caused the tractor’s driver to be thrown from the vehicle. The tractor came to a rest on the shoulder of the road and the woman’s vehicle stopped in the middle of the road. Both the woman and tractor driver were transported to the hospital to be treated, but the extent of their injuries is not yet known.

A car accident in Rantoul on Saturday afternoon caused five people to be transported to the hospital.
According to police officials, the accident occurred when two cars collided in Urbana while traveling on U.S. 45. An 18-year-old was traveling westbound on Champaign County Road 3200 when he did not yield at an intersection and struck a truck.
Five people that were involved in the accident were all transported to Provena Covenant Medical Center where they were treated and released. State police announced that the teen was ticketed for failing to stop at a yield sign.

One woman was sent to the hospital after a car accident occurred at a Champaign intersection after the car that she was riding in was struck.
According to police, the accident occurred at 12:30 p.m. when an 18-year-old man was traveling at the intersection of Mattis and Kirbey Lane and failed to see a vehicle traveling northbound. He attempted to make a turn onto an eastbound street and they two cars collided.
The vehicle struck was driven by a 27-year-old woman and the 18-year-old passenger in her vehicle was transported to Provena Covenant Medical Center in Urbana in order to be treated for injuries sustained. The 18-year-old man was ticketed for failure to yield as a result of the crash.

Two people were injured after a three-vehicle accident occurred on South Staley Road in Champaign.
According to police officials, the accident occurred at 5:40 p.m. when an 86-year-old man pulled out of his driveway in the path of a truck. The driver of the truck swerved to avoid hitting the man’s car, but the man still backed into the truck.
The impact pushed the truck into oncoming lanes of traffic where it was struck by a third car. The 51-year-old truck driver and the 86-year-old man were both transported to Carle Foundation Hospital in order to be treated. The driver of the third vehicle was not injured in the collision.

Two people were injured after a two-vehicle accident occurred in Champaign on Monday afternoon.
According to Champaign police officials, the accident occurred when a car driven by a 55-year-old woman collided with an SUV driven by a 52-year-old woman. Police stated that the 55-year-old woman failed to yield at a stop sign when she reached the Mattis Avenue and Williams Street intersection.
The two vehicles came to a rest in driveways on opposite sides of the street. The two drivers were taken to the hospital in order to be treated and they were both listed in good condition.
Three lanes of traffic were shutdown after the accident so emergency crews could clear the scene. The 55-year-old woman was cited for failure to yield at an intersection.

A collision involving three vehicles on Interstate 74 sent six people to the hospital on Wednesday night.
The collision occurred when a 23-year-old driver lost control of her Jeep while running over tire debris on the road. The Jeep then went through the median and hit an on-coming vehicle. This collision caused the on-coming vehicle to begin spinning and hit the third vehicle involved in the accident.
The driver of the on-coming car is in fair condition, and his fellow passengers have been treated and released. There is still no word on the 23-year-old’s condition.

Three teens were injured in a car accident just south of Dewey on Monday.
According to officials, the accident occurred just south of U.S. 136 when the 16-year-old driver ran off the side of the road. She then over-corrected and went across the other side of the road before the vehicle overturned into a corn field.
There were three people in the car with her during the crash and their ages were 15, 16 and 19. They were all taken by ambulance to Provena Covenant Medical Center in Urbana. The driver of the car was charged with driving too fast for the conditions. The accident remains under investigation at this time.

After a hit-and-run car accident on Tuesday, an Urbana driver suspected of causing the accident has been arrested. The 31-year old man is being charged with a felony for leaving the scene of a personal-injury accident and driving without insurance.
According to Urbana police reports, the accident occurred at around 2:20 p.m. on Tuesday on North Lincoln Avenue. The 75- year old victim of the accident was reported to have slowed to turn onto Sunset Drive when the Urbana man rear-ended his vehicle.
The victim suffered a cut to the head in the car accident and was treated at Carle Foundation Hospital. Fortunately, the 75-year old was able to provide police with a detailed description of the vehicle that hit his. In addition, investigators found an imprint of the hit-and-run suspect’s vehicle’s license plate number on the victim’s vehicle’s bumper.

A third person has been killed in connection with a car accident that occurred in Coles County.
According to a report from the state police, the accident occurred as a 26-year-0ld woman was driving east on Illinois 316 and she passed another vehicle traveling in the same direction.
She lost control of her vehicle as she passed the car and traveled into the westbound lanes. She then struck a semitrailer that was driven by a 20-year-old man. The truck then hit a van, which flipped and landed into a ditch.
Seven of the people in the van were ejected from the vehicle. Three people in the van have died because of injuries sustained in the accident. The woman was cited for improper lane usage, speeding, not have a valid license and driving an uninsured vehicle.

A woman was injured when the tractor that she was driving was struck from behind.
The 30-year-old woman was traveling on U.S. 45 on her tractor when she was struck from the rear by a car. The collision caused the woman to be thrown from the tractor.
The driver of the other car was not injured in the collision, but he was ticketed for failure to reduce speed in order to avoid an accident. The woman was transported to Carle Foundation Hospital to be treated for her serious injuries. She was also cited for not having a slow-moving vehicle sticker on her tractor.
