One killed, nine injured in Illinois crash

A Tennessee man has been charged after an Illinois drunk driving accident that killed one person and injured nine others.

According to Illinois State Police, the accident occurred  when a 43-year-old man’s truck struck a van while traveling on U.S. 51. The collision caused the man’s truck to spin out of control across the lanes of traffic before striking a group of motorcycles.

A 56-year-old motorcycle passenger was killed in the collision and nine others were injured. He has been charged with aggravated DUI, reckless driving along with 14 other charges.

Drunk driving is a serious offense that can not only put the driver in danger, but also every other person on the roadway at the time. Our thoughts are with the friends and family of the victim at this time.

Two people killed in alleged drunk driving accident

Two people were killed in a collision that occurred in Edgar County over the weekend. As a result of the crash, one person faces DUI charges.

According to state police, the 48-year-old man was driving down County Road 1575E when a car was driving the wrong way down the road. The man tried to swerve to avoid the oncoming collision.

Once he swerved his vehicle, but they still collided. Two passengers in the man’s car were killed. There ages were 17 and 71. Three others involved in the accident were taken to Paris County Hospital. The other driver was charged with driving under the influence and improper lane usage.

Man charged with DUI after accident

A man was charged with drunk driving after an accident that left five people injured.

According to Urbana police, a 22-year-old man was arrested at 1:15 a.m. on his birthday after he was involved in an accident. The man was driving southbound on Lincoln when he was attempting to turn left on to Fairbanks and collided with another vehicle.

He stated that he thought that he had a green arrow. After the accident, he was ticketed with failure to yield after turning left and driving under the influence.

Two people that were in his vehicle were transported to Carle Foundation Hospital,  but they have been treated and released. A passenger in the vehicle struck was also taken to the hospital.

Two injured in Champaign County one-car accident

A one-car accident in Champaign resulted in two people being transported to Carle Foundation Hospital in fair condition.

According to sheriff, the vehicle was heading east on a gravel roadway when the driver lost control and left the roadway. This then caused the vehicle to flip and roll over.

One of the victims was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected from the car. The 55-year-old driver of the car was ticketed with driving under the influence, failure to reduce speed to avoid in accident and driving without insurance.

Young man killed in one-vehicle DUI crash

A 20-year-old Burbonnais man was killed in a drunken driving accident in Iroquois County last week.

The accident occurred on 4:13 a.m. on Route 52 as the 19-year-old driver of the car lost control and went off the roadway striking a tree on the passenger side.

The 20-year-old passenger was killed in the accident and the 19-year-old driver was charged with aggravated DUI and illegal consumption of alcohol as a minor. The investigation into the accident is still under way.
