A man from Chicago was killed after he was struck and killed by car while he was standing outside of his car on Interstate 57.
According to Illinois State Police, the pedestrian accident occurred as the 48-year-old man was standing next to his vehicle on the side of the road when he was struck by a car attempting to avoid another collision.
A Toyota Camry sideswiped a tour bus and came to a stop on the side of the road. A second car managed to avoid this collision and also came to a stop on the shoulder of the road.
A third vehicle then T-boned the second vehicle, which caused it to collide with the first vehicle and eventually collide into the man on the side of the road. He was killed due to injuries sustained.

Three college women were injured after a hit-and-run accident occurred Tuesday morning near the college campus.
According to the police lieutenant, the car accident occurred just after 10:30 a.m. near the corner of Lincoln Avenue and Ohio Street as the women were walking across the street.
The car that hit the women then fled the scene, but police were able to stop the car 10 minutes later when they spotted a car that matched the description. The driver was then taken back the scene by police officials. The three women seemed to suffer non-life threatening injuries as a result of the collision.

A teenager in St. Joseph was injured after being struck by a drunk driver while he was walking on a county road.
According to the Champaign County sheriff’s department, the driver struck the teenager and drive off, but was later found and arrested by authorities. The accident occurred just after 2 a.m. when two 15-year-old teens were walking and the car struck one of the teenagers.
The collision knocked the teen into his friend and they both went into a ditch. The boy was transported to Carle Foundation Hospital where he was treated for minor cuts and a broken ankle.
The car was later found outside of a home and a 45-year-old man was arrested for failure to reduce speed, aggravated driving under the influence and leaving the scene of an accident with injury.

A woman was injured after being involved in a Champaign pedestrian accident last week.
According to a police deputy in Champaign, the accident occurred when a 51-year-old woman was crossing Prospect Avenue and she was struck by a car that was turning left from another street.
The driver stated that they did not see a pedestrian in the crosswalk because it was dark and rainy at the time. Also, the pedestrian signal was allegeldy not lit up even though the victim stated that she hit the button before crossing the street.
She was conscious when emergency crews arrived at the scene to transport her to a hospital in Champaign. No tickets have been issued at this time and the investigation remains open.

A Champaign man was killed in a bicycle pedestrian accident that occurred on Tuesday night.
According to police officials, the accident occurred at the intersection of Anthony Drive and Market Street when a 63-year-old driver of a Peterbilt truck struck the bicyclist. The driver did not know that he struck the bike, but saw multiple cars stop at the intersection so he also stopped.
When emergency crews arrived at the scene, the 58-year-old bicyclist was semi-responsive and was transported to Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana in order to be treated. He was later pronounced dead. The accident is still under investigation and no citations have been handed out at this time.

A teacher at Manteno High School was struck and killed after a pedestrian car accident occurred while he was jogging on the side of the road before work.
According to police officials, the man was struck by a car before 7 a.m. and was pronounced dead on the scene by emergency officials. The man was running on North 3000E when struck near County Highway 9. An accident reconstruction team has been assigned to the case at this time, but the investigation into the accident is still underway at this time.

One woman was killed after being involved in a pedestrian accident in Granite City.
According to Illinois State Police, the accident occurred around 6:27 p.m. when the 32-year-old woman was walking across Chain of Rocks Road and she was struck by a tractor-trailer.
As a result of the accident, the pedestrian was taken to St. Louis University Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. The death is considered an accident and no charges have been filed at this time.

Police are currently investigating an accident that occurred in Champaign between a pedestrian and and a vehicle.
The police department announced that the accident occurred at 3:03 p.m. on Monday at the intersection of Springfield Avenue and Prairie Street.
A 7th-grade-boy was entering an intersection around a stopped middle school bus when he was struck by a Jeep Cherokee. Emergency crews arrived to the scene in order to take him to the hospital to be treated for his injuries.
