Urbana ticketed after pedestrian accident

A woman from Urbana has been ticketed after a pedestrian accident occurred on Washington Street.

According to the Urbana police report, the 58-year-old woman was heading east down the road and a  21-year-old woman was walking across the street when the drivers struck her in the intersection as she was attempting a turn.

The victim was taken to Carle Foundation Hospital in order to be treated for her injuries. Her current condition is unknown at this time. The 58-year-old woman was charged with failure to yield as a result of the accident.

Pedestrian accident on train tracks kills one

A 27-year-old man was struck and killed in a pedestrian accident while walking along the railroad tracks in the early morning hours.

According to the Grundy County Coroner, the incident was an “unfortunate accident.” Police and emergency crews arrived at the scene at 3:07 a.m. in order to begin to investigate the accident and clear the scene.

BSF Railway Co. is also investigating the accident. It is unknown at this time why the man was walking on the tracks.
