Police are continuing to investigate a train accident that occurred Saturday night in Peotone.
According to the Peotone Police Department, the accident occurred at the Canadian National Railroad track at 10:30 p.m. The details of the fatal accident are unclear at this time, but a 16-year-old was pronounced dead as a result.
The freight line was en route to Memphis when the accident occurred and the service was stopped for over three hours while emergency crews cleared the scene and police investigated.

A wrongful death lawsuit has been filed by the family of a young man that was killed in “car surfing” stunt earlier this year.
According to the lawsuit, the man was killed on June 30 as he was sitting on top of a car while in a Wal-Mart parking lot and the driver of the car accelerated suddenly. After the car accelerated, the man was thrown from the roof.
The 20-year-old man died two days later of injuries sustained. The 19-year-old driver was charged with reckless homicide as a result of the accident. The lawsuit states that the driver made the sharp turn too recklessly and too fast.

A wrongful death lawsuit has been filed against the Jamaica school district and Eastern Illini Electric Cooperative after an accident claimed the life of one woman.
According to the lawsuit, the school district and electric company were negligent and caused the death of a 36-year-old St. Joseph woman. The incident occurred on August 28 when a transformer pole fell and struck her.
The woman, also the cheerleading coach for the high school, was pronounced dead at the scene. The lawsuit is requesting more than $50,000 in damages. The lawsuit states that the power pole was more than 50 years old and the transformer was deteriorated.

A 62-year-old man from Mt. Zion was killed early on Sunday morning when a car crashed through his bedroom wall.
A 20-year-old man was allegedly fleeing police after an attempted traffic stop when his car crashed into the house. The victim’s wife sustained serious injuries and was rushed to a nearby hospital and later transferred to a hospital in Champaign. The driver is awaiting trial and could face charges of reckless homicide and aggravated DUI.

A Kankakee woman was killed Friday on Illinois Route 50 when she was involved in an accident with a semi truck.
According to reports, the woman and the semi truck were both driving southbound on Route 50 when the 30-year-old mother of three turned suddenly in front of the truck. Witnesses said the turn seemed abrupt and unwarranted, given that there was no intersection in the area. The woman, who owned the Wisteria Day Spa, died as the result of her injuries.

A 22-year-old Siegel man is dead following a tragic grain bin accident.
According to the Shelby County coroner, the man had been loading dried corn into a grain bin with two other men when he became trapped in the corn and was buried beneath it. The accident occurred on Thursday, and an autopsy is scheduled to ascertain the exact circumstances of the man’s sudden death.
