According to Illinois State Police, the pedestrian accident occurred as the 48-year-old man was standing next to his vehicle on the side of the road when he was struck by a car attempting to avoid another collision.

A Toyota Camry sideswiped a tour bus and came to a stop on the side of the road. A second car managed to avoid this collision and also came to a stop on the shoulder of the road.

A third vehicle then T-boned the second vehicle, which caused it to collide with the first vehicle and eventually collide into the man on the side of the road. He was killed due to injuries sustained.

According to the police lieutenant, the car accident occurred just after 10:30 a.m. near the corner of Lincoln Avenue and Ohio Street as the women were walking across the street.

The two friends, age 21 and 19, were in their apartment unit when the blaze broke out in the early hours of Sunday. Firefighters responded to the scene, but found the two women in the second floor apartment where they had succumbed to the flames.
