Carolyn Chen joined Spiros Law, P.C. in 2021. She obtained her B.A. in Psychology and English from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, and her J.D. in 2021 from the University of Illinois College of Law, cum laude. Carolyn has always been passionate about advocating and providing justice for people that have been harmed by the actions of others.
During law school, Carolyn was selected as one of the PILI Grant Recipients of 2019 and spent her first summer working at the Champaign County Public Defender’s office. She was then selected as the PILI fellow at the Land of Lincoln Legal Aid during her second year and spent her second summer representing low-income individuals in domestic relations, orders of protection, and expungement and sealing matters. She received a special commendation for her pro bono services.
During her second semester of her second year, Carolyn participated in the Veterans Legal Clinic through the University of Illinois, where she represented veterans on housing, discharge upgrade, and domestic relation matters. She returned during her penultimate semester as an advanced student clinician to continue assisting her clients with their legal needs.
Carolyn also worked closely with a University of Illinois College of Law Professor throughout her second year to research environmental law and issues. Her research included work for the Sierra club, as well as the Urbana Park District.
When she is not working, Carolyn enjoys reading, gardening, spending time with her partner and dogs, and traveling.
