Former state trooper kills two in car accident, seeks workers’ compensation
A former Illinois State trooper is seeking workers’ compensation benefits from injuries sustained in a car accident that took the life of two women.
According to reports, the state trooper is asking to be compensated when his leg was injured in a car crash that occurred when he struck and killed two sisters while he was traveling at speeds of 126 mph, sending and receiving emails and talking to his girlfriend on his cell phone. The conviction against the trooper is what lead to his termination from the law enforcement agency.
Although he man pleaded guilty to the reckless driving and reckless homicide, he is still trying to receive workers compensation benefits and his legal team is trying to prove that he was doing his job as a state trooper when the incident occurred. The man was responding to an accident when he hit the women, but there was already help at the scene of the accident.
