Three killed in Rantoul plane accident
A fiery plane accident in Rantoul left three people dead on Sunday. The victims were family members that were on their way to Florida.
The 19-year-old daughter was a volleyball player at the University of Chicago and her parents were flying with her to a fitness camp in Florida.
The preliminary investigation shows that the plane had just taken off from the airport and was gaining altitude when it went down. It has been confirmed that there was severe weather in the area at the time.
The Federal Aviation Investigation and the National Transportation Board are currently investigating at the crash scene. The plane burst into flames when it struck the ground. Firefighters and the police department responded to the scene in order to clear the wreckage and put out the fire.
