Illinois workers’ comp commission gained four new arbitrators
Illinois Governor Patrick Joseph “Pat” Quinn III recently appointed four new arbitrators to the Illinois Workers’ Compensation Commission, the Claims Journal reported on September 9.
The four new arbitrators to the state’s workers’ compensation commission are Maria Bocanegra, Stephen Friedman, Steven Fruth, and Michael Nowak.
Bocangera is an attorney who handles workers’ compensation cases and formerly worked as a judicial assistant to Judge David Furman. Additionally, she was a case administrator for the U.S. Bankruptcy Court in Colorado. In 2013, Bocanegra served under the Illinois Department of Labor’s Labor Advisory Board. Friedman is also a workers’ compensation attorney who dabbles in personal injury cases. Fruth is a trial attorney at the Chicago Transit Authority, while Nowak is an arbitrator at the St. Clair County Arbitration Center and a member of the Judicial Nominating Committee for the U.S. District Court of the Southern District of Illinois.
