Villa Grove man gets eight years for aggravated DUI
Thirty-three-year-old Villa Grove, Illinois resident Timothy Bretz was sentenced to eight years of imprisonment last Monday, November 10 after being convicted of aggravated driving under the influence of an intoxicating compound, The Champaign News Gazette reported.
According to court documents, Bretz had been operating a semi-trailer grain truck in October of last year when he collided with a car driven by 19-year-old Broadland local Wyatt Jones at an unmarked intersection in Champaign County. Jones died as a result of injuries he sustained from the accident. Marijuana had been found in Bretz’ system, though he contends that he was not impaired at the time of the accident.
