Three Burned When Car Crashes Into Local Restaurant

Last Friday, a vehicle crashed into the local Urbana barbecue joint Lil’ Porgy’s, leaving three employees with grease burns. The car struck the restaurant Friday afternoon, inflicting not insignificant structural damage to the building’s exterior. The driver of the vehicle was cited for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident, as well as driving without a license.

The injured employees were cooking lunch when the incident occurred. Two employees suffered only superficial burns and were taken to Presence Covenant Medical Center, while the third suffered 30 percent burns and was taken to Carle Foundation Hospital. The names of the injured have yet to be released.

The restaurant quickly sought to inform its loyal patrons of its temporary closure following the accident. The building was quickly evacuated and owners notified public health authorities and isolated utilities. They also posted a sign on their door stating, “Closed. Someone drove into our building.”

The thoughts of the whole team at Spiros Law, P.C., are with those who were injured in the accident.
