UPDATED: Two people hospitalized after four-vehicle crash east of Urbana

A four-vehicle accident on Interstate 74 east of Urbana sent two people to the hospital. The crash, as previously reported here, occurred at 8:55 a.m. and involved two semi-trailer trucks, a box truck, and a 2011 Ford F-150.

According to the authorities, the box truck hit the F-150 from behind while traffic was stopped due to construction. The force of the impact pushed the F-150 into the back of one of the semi-trailers. The F-150 crossed into the right lane of traffic, sideswiping the other trailer.

The driver of the F-150 and the driver of the box truck were taken by ambulance to local hospitals for treatment. The driver of the box truck was cited for failure to reduce speed to avoid a collision.
