UPDATED: Two-vehicle crash on Route 49 results in fatality

Updated story: Victim in Route 49 Crash Identified

Authorities have released the identity of a Watseka man who was killed in a crash on Monday. The 78-year old man was killed when he attempted to turn east on 2300N road and his Prius struck an Acura MDX heading northbound. Police say that the man was not wearing his seatbelt at the time of the crash and his airbags did not deploy.

The driver of the Acura was a mother with three children in the car. The family was traveling in a caravan of three vehicles, heading back to Chicago. The mother and children were transported to a local hospital with nonlife-threatening injuries.

A two-vehicle crash on Route 49 north of Crescent City resulted in the death of a Watseka man on Monday night.
