Gibson City woman pronounced dead after crash

A 58-year-old woman was pronounced dead at the scene of a two-vehicle crash earlier this month. The accident occurred at 6:55 p.m. at the intersection of county roads 3200 N and 1100 E. The Gibson City woman and the other driver, a 55-year-old man from Dewey, entered an intersection in rural Champaign county at the same time and collided. The woman was driving a sport-utility vehicle and the man was driving a pickup truck. Both vehicles rolled over in the crash.

At this time, authorities have not released whether or not the individuals were wearing their seatbelts at the time of the collision, and there were no passengers in either of the vehicles. While the man was uninjured, the woman suffered blunt force trauma and died. Authorities did not issue any tickets following the crash.
