Tractor-Car Collision Leaves Two Hospitalized
According to Illinois State Police, a crash occurred between a tractor and another vehicle on Friday morning around 11:40. The accident occurred on Illinois Route 130 between Windsor and Curtis roads, just outside of Urbana.
The driver of the tractor, Richard Swearingen, 80, of Urbana, was driving north on the shoulder when he began to do a U-turn. A northbound vehicle just behind Swearingen collided with the tractor, causing it to flip on its side. The vehicle was driven by Gwynne Anderson, 52, of Arthur. Both drivers were sent to the hospital via ambulance.
Swearingen was not wearing a seatbelt when the accident occurred, however, he was listed in good condition on Friday at Carle Hospital in Urbana. Beck was wearing a seatbelt but a Carle spokeswoman had no information on her condition.
After further investigation, no tickets were issued for either driver.
