Semi-truck Catches Fire In Crash

A semi-truck crash on interstate 74, between Champaign and Danville, resulted in the death of one driver. Thursday afternoon, a semi-truck was traveling westbound when it failed to slow for a traffic backup and collided with another semi-truck. When the two semi-truck collided, one became engulfed in flames.

Police reported that this collision of the two semi-trucks occurred shortly after an initial collision on the same stretch of I-74. According to police, a semi-truck slowed down for a traffic backup caused by the construction zone and a van failed to slow down and it hit the rear of the semi-truck. As a result of the crash, the van became disabled in the right lane and the driver of the van was taken to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries. The Semi driver, in the first collision, was uninjured.

Areas under construction can cause sudden backups and can lead to these deadly crashes. It is important to always stay focused on the road and your surroundings in order to help prevent these types of crashes from occurring. Unfortunately, sometimes, even when you are practicing safe driving, others on the road are not. If you are injured in a collision due to the negligence of another driver, you may be entitled to compensation.
