Two people were killed in a collision that occurred in Edgar County over the weekend. As a result of the crash, one person faces DUI charges.
According to state police, the 48-year-old man was driving down County Road 1575E when a car was driving the wrong way down the road. The man tried to swerve to avoid the oncoming collision.
Once he swerved his vehicle, but they still collided. Two passengers in the man’s car were killed. There ages were 17 and 71. Three others involved in the accident were taken to Paris County Hospital. The other driver was charged with driving under the influence and improper lane usage.

A 20-year-old Burbonnais man was killed in a drunken driving accident in Iroquois County last week.
The accident occurred on 4:13 a.m. on Route 52 as the 19-year-old driver of the car lost control and went off the roadway striking a tree on the passenger side.
The 20-year-old passenger was killed in the accident and the 19-year-old driver was charged with aggravated DUI and illegal consumption of alcohol as a minor. The investigation into the accident is still under way.

An Urbana man was killed in a motorcycle accident on Interstate 74 at 8:30 a.m. on October 8.
The 38-year-old man lost control of his motorcycle while traveling on the on-ramp of I-74. His bike traveled off of the roadway onto gravel. He then turned the bike to head back to the roadway, but the motorcycle flipped onto it side and he was ejected from it.
The man was then airlifted to the Carle Foundation Hospital with serious injuries. He was charged with driving under the influence, driving an uninsured vehicle, driving with a revoked license and improper land usage.

Guilty of aggravated driving under an intoxicating compound and failure to report an accident involving a death, a Texas man has been given a sentence that includes up to 10 years in prison.
Driving his car on the sidewalk of Sigel’s The Last Stand Tavern, the man killed one bystander and injured two other people on September 27, 2009. The sentencing was passed down by the Shelby County Circuit Court, softened by a plea bargain.

Two Urbana women were involved in a single-vehicle crash early Monday morning. Following police investigation, the driver has been ticketed for driving under the influence.
According to police reports, the driver was heading home at 3:15 a.m. when she swerved off the road, hitting a tree and a fence before coming to a stop. Both the driver and her passenger sustained minor injuries and were transported to Carle Foundation hospital, where they were treated and released.
The driver was issued tickets for driving under the influence, failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident, and operating an uninsured vehicle.

A two-car accident killed on Illinois 16.
The accident happened around 6:20 p.m. when a 34-year-old man who was driving a jeep and lost control of the vehicle collided with another vehicle. Both drivers had to be cut from their vehicles. The driver of the other vehicle, a 51-year-ol man was pronounced at the scene. The 34-year-old driver suffered very serious injury. He was later charged with driving under the influence.
