Three people, including a man from Champaign, were injured in a two-vehicle accident on I-72 on Friday afternoon near Decatur. The 25-year old Champaign man was reportedly driving a Humvee eastbound at 2:55 p.m. when he was rear-ended by a Chevrolet Impala driven by a 20-year-old man from Roberts.
The collision caused the Humvee to roll over, coming to rest in the right lane of the highway. The driver and his 33-year-old female passenger were both injured in the accident. The Impala ended up in a ditch on the side of the road. All of the individuals were transported to nearby hospitals for treatment, and fortunately, none of the injuries were life-threatening. The driver of the Impala was cited by police for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident.
