Accident near Foosland kills one, injures two others

A 29-year-old man from Fisher was killed in an accident near Foosland on Thursday night. Authorities say the accident occurred at 8:07 p.m. at the intersection of Illinois 47 and County Road 3200 N.  The victim was driving south on I-47 and slowing down to turn east on 3200 N. when a vehicle driven by a 22-year-old motorist collided with his vehicle in the intersection.

Emergency crews rushed him to Gibson Area Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 9:46 p.m. The driver of the other vehicle and another 22-year-old passenger were also taken to the hospital for treatment of minor injuries. Illinois State Police issued tickets for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident, improper passing in an intersection, and disobeying a no-passing zone to the surviving motorist.
