Three-vehicle crash injures three on I-74 between St. Joseph and Urbana
Illinois State Police report that three people were injured in a three-vehicle collision that shut down all lanes of I-74 west of St. Joseph on Tuesday morning. According to initial reports, a 54-year-old woman was driving west in her Jeep Grand Cherokee when she failed to reduce her speed when approaching a work zone. Her car slammed into a Toyota Camry, driven by a 46-year-old man. Her car continued on, striking a 55-year-old woman in a Chevrolet Equinox, pushing that vehicle into a ditch on the shoulder of the road.
Emergency crews transported all three people to Carle Foundation Hospital for treatment. The driver of the Jeep Cherokee was cited at the scene for failing to reduce speed to avoid a collision and for driving a vehicle without insurance.
