Champaign woman killed in two-vehicle crash on I-9

A two-vehicle collision claimed the life of a 33-year-old Champaign woman on Saturday morning. The accident occurred at around 7:00 a.m. on Illinois Route 9 near Paxton. State police believe the woman’s car crossed the center line as she was driving westbound, striking a vehicle in the eastbound lane. The driver of the other vehicle, an SUV, was a 62-year-old woman from Gibson City. She was transported by ambulance to Carle Hospital for medical attention following the crash. The 33-year-old victim was pronounced dead at the scene by the Ford County Coroner.
