Construction company continues to violate worker safety protocols

The United States Department of Labor’s Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) has cited Lombard, Illinois-based Armor Shield Construction once again for failing to provide the proper safety measures for workers.

The most recent incident occured at a site where an investigator noted that the company was not providing workers with adequate safety measures for the task they were preforming, exposing them to fall hazards. They were fined $72,380. OSHA’s area director, Angeline Loftus, said that falls account for the most injuries and deaths at construction sites; she also pointed out that lack of proper fall protection is the most cited OSHA violation in the area and that “we need to change that culture in the construction industry.” This was the sixth time that the company has been cited for fall safety violations, and has since been put on OSHA’s Severe Violator Enforcement Program.
