Deadly Champaign Intersection Crash

Early morning on Saturday, April 10th, a collision at an intersection in northwest Champaign resulted in the death of one person and the injury of two others. According to reports, the driver of a Toyota SUV collided with a Lincoln SUV while traveling through the intersection of Mattis and Bradley avenues. The crash resulted in the death of the driver of the Toyota SUV and serious injuries to the driver and passanger of the Lincoln SUV. Both the driver and passenger were taken to a local hospital and Police have reported that their condition was serious but stable. According to the preliminary investigation, the SUVs met at the intersection of Bradley and Mattis as one was traveling eastbound on Bradley and the other was traveling southbound on Mattis. However, the collision caused both vehicles to land south of the intersection on Mattis Avenue and Police were unable to confidently report which vehicle was originally traveling which way. The investigation will continue and  Illinois State Police are conducting a reconstruction of the incident in an attempt to determine what happened.
