Four people injured in three-vehicle accident near Rantoul on I-57

None of the people involved in a three-vehicle accident on Friday sustained injuries that are life-threatening, as reported by The News-Gazette.com. There were two people in each of the vehicles and everyone was wearing their seat belt at the time of the crash. Four people were taken to the hospital by ambulance for non-life-threatening injuries, according to state police Sgt. Mark Holley.

The accident was caused by a driver who lost control of her vehicle in the southbound lane of I-57. The vehicle slid through the interstate median and then entered northbound traffic where it was then hit by two vehicles before it ultimately came to a stop in a ditch. The driver who lost control of her vehicle and accidentally entered into the northbound lane was cited for by police for improper lane usage.
