Authorities have announced that the 77-year-old Champaign woman who was injured in a collision on U.S. 45 at I-57 last week has died from her injuries. The woman was transported to Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana with a broken neck and two broken arms after her car was hit by a vehicle driven by an 81-year-old man from Philo. The man was not seriously injured in the collision and was cited at the scene for failing to obey a stop sign shortly before 11 a.m. on March 21.
The Champaign County Coroner is still trying to determine the exact cause of the woman’s death., but initial reports say that complications during surgery may have contributed to her death.
